Ghost Town

Waiting patiently to start the train ride

The last Sat. in Aug. me, Nyles & Alyx decided to go somewhere none of us had been & decided on Goldfield Ghost Town.  At first Alyx was a little apprehensive because she was fairly certain that we would be seeing ghost.  After being there & realizing that no ghost were going to be bothering her, she loved it.  We first went on the train ride.  Alyx enjoyed it the whole time even though it was a bit hot (our recommendation, don't go in summer) & we learned about some of the history of the town & area & all about the different mines out there.  Then we walked around the town & looked at all the different souvenirs & candy (including suckers with scorpions in them).  Next we went on the mine tour, which takes you into a replica mine that's just below the surface & they show & tell you what it was like for the miners in the late 1800s.  After that we went to the Mystery Shack, which is just a fun little illusion attraction.  It appears that water runs up hill, that things hang at a 45 degree angle, & that there's an infinitely deep shaft among other things.  We did a few other things, but those were the 3 main attractions.  It was a lot of fun & we all enjoyed it.
